How the estimate works
Social insurance: the employee's share is 11% of the insurable wage — the gross salary, kept between EGP 2,700 and EGP 16,700 a month — deducted from pay. The employer pays a further 18.75% of the same wage as a company cost; it doesn't reduce take-home pay.
Taxable income: the monthly gross minus the employee's social insurance, times twelve, minus the EGP 20,000 personal exemption, rounded down to the nearest 10 (Law 7/2024).
Income tax: charged on taxable income in the progressive bands below, then spread evenly across the twelve months. Above EGP 600,000 a year the lower bands are withdrawn step by step, and above EGP 1,200,000 the excess is taxed at 27.5%.
These are the rules in Kayan's own Egypt payroll setup. The estimate doesn't model allowances, bonuses, other exemptions or the Martyrs' Families Fund deduction. Confirm final figures with a payroll specialist.

Common questions
How is salary income tax calculated in Egypt?
Under Law 7/2024, tax is charged on yearly taxable income — gross pay minus the employee's social insurance and the EGP 20,000 personal exemption — in progressive bands from 0% to 25%. Above EGP 600,000 a year the lower bands no longer apply, and income above EGP 1,200,000 is taxed at 27.5%. This calculator uses the bands in Kayan's Egypt payroll setup, shown in the table on this page.
How much social insurance is deducted from salary?
The employee pays 11% of the insurable wage and the employer adds 18.75%. The insurable wage is the gross salary kept between EGP 2,700 and EGP 16,700 a month (2026 limits), so pay above the maximum adds no more social insurance. You can adjust the employee share in the calculator.
Does Kayan run payroll?
Yes, on plans that include Payroll: employee contracts, income tax and social insurance withheld on every pay run, overtime and deductions folded in, and journal entries posted to the ledger, with a bank export file when you're ready to pay.
Do this automatically in Kayan.
Kayan's payroll withholds income tax and social insurance on every pay run and posts it to the books — no spreadsheet.
